Zheleznovodsk railway station

On the railway station square we can see the building of the railway station "Zheleznovodsk", favourable located on the north-eastern slope of mountain Beshtau. Regular train service to Zheleznovodsk appeared on 1 January 1896, 3 years after the appearance of the railway track, connected Kislovodsk, Yessentuki, Pyatigorsk and Mineralnye Vody. The original station Zheleznovodskaya , located 6 km from the city, was renamed Beshtau. At that time, the vertical section of the railway track to Zheleznovodsk was the most difficult in Russia.The historical railway station building in Zheleznovodsk is the only preserved railway station building in the Caucasian Mineral Waters region. The station building is an architectural monument of the late 19th century.
